Our Toronto-based client, one of Canada’s fastest growing companies focused in experiential marketing, is searching for an Account Director to join their new West Coast (best coast) office. We are looking for someone that has “been around the block” (the Western Canada block that is) to spearhead, foster, and grow new client relationships. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your entrepreneurial spirit, and take on new projects.

About the Position

The successful candidate will wear many hats and support a wide range of existing and new clients in a variety of sectors.
The Account Director is a senior client counselor; develops and manages strategic programs; leads multiple accounts; provides day-to-day advice and direction to clients; builds revenue; and manages, coaches and empowers direct reports.

Your Day-to-Day

New Business Development:
  • Identify and secure new and organic business opportunities and achieve results
  • Lead new business responses e.g. RFPs, pitches
  • Accurately and compellingly describe services, and proactively suggest ways to enhance offerings to client 
  • Strong presentation skills

Client Account Management:
  • Oversee large and complex accounts
  • Understand client’s business and competitive landscape
  • Anticipate key issues and needs of clients / develop strategies
  • Work with teams to develop over-arching on-strategy 360 account plans
  • Lead account teams e.g. work allocation and delegation, determining roles and responsibilities, coaching and supporting talent development​
  • Monitor client budgets
  • Oversee invoicing / overall account monitoring
  • Look ahead to manage workflow, assignments and steady stream of income 

Staff Management
  • Actively mentor team members on various activities
  • Conduct annual performance reviews & provide 360 review support for colleagues
  • Act as mentor for others
  • Sustain a collaborative work environment through enthusiasm, support and open communication
  • Take initiative to showcase team successes
  • Recommend and support skills training for team members
  • Participate in skills training for junior staff

Agency Management Team Involvement:
  • Work collaboratively with senior team to develop and implement strategies that broaden the impact of the company, build revenue, fuel the attraction and retention of clients, and ensure effective staff management, education and communication
  • Take on special assignments for Agency’s advancement
  • Seek out, interview and assess potential new employment candidates

  • College or university degree or equivalent (Business, Marketing, Sport & Event Marketing, Sponsorship)
  • Proven strong strategic thinker and account leader
  • Solid project management and client relationship skills
  • Excellent team player: passionate, positive, high-energy
  • Highly organized and applies strong attention to detail
  • Creative in ideas, account solutions and strategy
  • Solid understanding of the experiential marketing industry and latest trends
  • Experience leading integrated teams and programs
  • Solid understanding of social media tactics and their potential application
