Position Overview

Smart, Savvy + Associates is excited to work with Rocky Mountaineer in the search for the twelve-month contract role of Director, Global Marketing. The Director will play a key role in supporting the achievement of the organization’s five-year strategic plan, through leadership of the Brand, Content and Digital Teams, and cross-functional teamwork with Sales, Research & Analytics, IT and Guest Experience teams.
Success with Rocky Mountaineer will come through extensive experience in coaching teams through heavy workloads and complex projects. The Director will have a passion and deep understanding of all aspects of marketing including digital marketing, content strategy, branding and customer experience. Traditional mass media marketing, brand oversight and innovative digital marketing are all a piece of the larger marketing strategy, and require a solutions-oriented approach to evaluate effectiveness and optimize for results.

Key Accountabilities for Excellence

The main areas of accountability for the Director, Global Marketing are to:
  • Provide leadership, guidance and support to the Brand, Content and Digital Teams to flawlessly deliver the marketing plans developed for the fiscal 2018 year and deliver on the subsequent KPIs.
  • Grow brand awareness and increase consideration of Rocky Mountaineer in core markets to support revenue growth across all key channels.
  • Take the lead on a cross-functional team to develop and implement customer journey mapping exercises designed to uncover areas of opportunity for our B2C and B2B channels.
  • Take the lead on a cross-functional team to help to envision, shape and develop an experiential app that will enhance the onboard experience for our guests.
  • Oversee, provide guidance, and coach a high-performance team to execute on brand and digital programs and campaigns.
  • Oversight and management of our agencies (creative, media, design, etc.).
  • Budget management, reconciliation, and reporting on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure all initiatives are tracked and measured against predetermined performance metrics, and be comfortable developing recommendations and ways to optimize plans.
  • Develop key relationships both cross functionally with internal stakeholders, and externally with agency partners.


Key Qualifications
 
  • University degree in marketing or business management, MBA an asset
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Marketing Director in a consumer-facing business
  • 7+ experience working in a medium to large organization
  • Solid business acumen, problem solving, time management, organizational and leadership skills
  • Areas that will be viewed as an strong asset:
    • Experience leading customer lifecycle (journey mapping) projects
    • Experience envisioning and leading experiential based applications
    • Deep digital experience garnered from working in test and learn environments
