Director of Marketing Communications

Smart, Savvy + Associates is excited to partner with our client, a digital eCommerce industry leader, in their search for a Director of Marketing Communications. Located in either Vancouver BC or San Francisco CA, the Director will report directly to the CMO and oversee key marketing and communications functions including branding, social engagement, stakeholder relations, and corporate and internal communications. About the Role

The Director of Marketing Communications will provide leadership for traditional marketing and communications in a B2B environment, and will also lead the building of ‘noise’ for the organization’s continued path of growth. Main areas of focus for the role include:
 
  • Develop brand awareness for internal departments by ‘owning’ the brand and supporting all marketing and communications in being on-brand across the organization
  • Lead work in brand strategy and positioning; social media strategy, influencer engagement, and use of storytelling to share brand, drive marketplace relevance/interest
  • Responsible for leading activities in public relations and media relations; develop relationships with industry analysts to earn coverage in reports, research, etc.
  • Monitor social media marketing results (paid and earned) and identify opportunities for growth and development; collaborate with other team members to optimize resources and maximize impact of overall marketing efforts
  • Collaborate with design team and lead website experience and development
  • Collaborate with teams across the organization to develop and optimize marketing campaign content, copy and messaging
  • Actively lead team planning on a quarterly and annual basis, monitor budget, report on campaign performance and maintain focus on business outcomes and revenue growth


About You
 
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing, communications or public relations
  • Post-secondary education in marketing, journalism, public relations, or related area
  • Excellent written communication skills with ability to write well for a globally diverse audience and the creativity to develop product messaging and value propositions
  • Proficient with tools for analytics and marketing automation, such as Google Analytics, Marketo, Trendkite, Bizible, Meltwater
  • Confident and persuasive verbal communications skills with strong presentation and public speaking ability
  • Natural collaborator who easily builds mutually beneficial relationships across the organization
  • Nimble-thinking with willingness and ability to move quickly and pivot directions in a dynamic environment
  • Able to travel as required by role (less than 10%)
